There are countless types of computer repair, as anything that needs to be done in order to repair, maintain or update a computer system can be considered 'computer repair'. Computer repair may involve anything from hardware removal and installation to the removal of spyware or viruses. Computer repair professionals come in a wide variety of flavors, with a variety of skills and levels of documented credentials.

Computer repair technicians may can be completely self-taught, educated at learning facilities and secondary education centers, or a computer repair technician may be a collection of various self-taught skills and knowledge as well as credentials that could be put toward working with the largest and most well known IT corporations and companies.

If you're interested in pursuing a career in computer repair it's worth doing some research to find out how much or what kind of education and certification will land you the computer repair related job that you have in mind.
